Light Reset without using a computer

3 Series (E36) 1994-2001

Requires LED test light. Turn ignition to tpositionhe "ON" . Connect test light between terminal 7 of the diagnostic connector and ground. After beingconnected for three seconds, five green LEDs will light up. Turn ignition off.

3 Series (E46) 1998-2000
Requires LED test light. Turn ignition to the "ON" position. Connect test light between terminal 7 of the diagnostic connector and ground. After beingconnected for three seconds, five green LEDs will light up. Turn ignition off.

3 Series (E46) 2000-onwards
Turn ignition off. Press and hold button to left of speedometer. Turn ignition to the "I" position. After 5 seconds, "OIL SERVICE" or "INSPECTION"
will display. Release button. Press and hold button again. After 5 seconds, "RESET" will flash. Release button. Press button once more. Newinterval is displayed. Press and hold button again. After 5 seconds, the time-based interval is displayed. Release button. Press and hold button
again. After 5 seconds, "RESET" will flash. Release button. Press button again. New interval is displayed. Press button a final time. "END SIA" is
displayed. Turn ignition off.

3 Series Hatchback 1994-2001
Requires LED test light. Turn ignition to the "ON" position. Connect test light between terminal 7 of the diagnostic connector and ground. After beingconnected for three seconds, five green LEDs will light up. Turn ignition off.

5 Series (E34) 1994-1996
Requires LED test light. Turn ignition to the "ON" position. Connect test light between terminal 7 of the diagnostic connector and ground. After beingconnected for three seconds, five green LEDs will light up. Turn ignition off.

5 Series (E39) 1996-2000
Requires LED test light. Turn ignition to the "ON" position. Connect test light between terminal 7 of the diagnostic connector and ground. After beingconnected for three seconds, five green LEDs will light up. Turn ignition off.

5 Series (E39) 2000-2003
Turn ignition off. Press and hold button to left of speedometer. Turn ignition to the "I" position. After 5 seconds, "OIL SERVICE" or "INSPECTION"
will display. Release button. Press and hold button again. After 5 seconds, "RESET" will flash. Release button. Press button once more. Newinterval is displayed. Press and hold button again. After 5 seconds, the time-based interval is displayed. Release button. Press and hold button
again. After 5 seconds, "RESET" will flash. Release button. Press button again. New interval is displayed. Press button a final time. "END SIA" is
displayed. Turn ignition off.

5 Series (E60) 2004-onwards
Can only be reset if oil life is below 80% and "!" is present next to indicator lamp. Turn ignition to the "ON" position. Press and hold button to the left of
the speedometer until first item is displayed (approx. 10 seconds). Press button until desired indicator is displayed. Press and hold button until
RESET? is displayed. Press and hold button again for at least 3 seconds. Turn ignition off.

6 Series 2004-onwards
Can only be reset if oil life is below 80% and "!" is present next to indicator lamp. Turn ignition to the "ON" position. Press and hold button to the left of

the speedometer until first item is displayed (approx. 10 seconds). Press button until desired indicator is displayed. Press and hold button until
RESET? is displayed. Press and hold button again for at least 3 seconds. Turn ignition off.

7 Series (E38) 1994-2002
Requires LED test light. Turn ignition to the "ON" position. Connect test light between terminal 7 of the diagnostic connector and ground. After beingconnected for three seconds, five green LEDs will light up. Turn ignition off.

7 Series (E65/E66) 2002-onwards
Can only be reset if oil life is below 80% and "!" is present next to indicator lamp. Turn ignition to the "ON" position. Press and hold button to the left of
the speedometer until first item is displayed (approx. 10 seconds). Press button until desired indicator is displayed. Press and hold button until
RESET? is displayed. Press and hold button again for at least 3 seconds. Turn ignition off.

X3 2004-onwards
Turn ignition off. Press and hold left hand button to the right of the speedometer. Turn ignition to the "I" position. Continue to hold button until
OIL SERVICE or "INSPECTION" is displayed. Release button. Press and hold button again until "RESET" or "RE" flashes. Release button. Press
button again. New interval is displayed. Press button once more. "END SIA" is displayed.

X5 1999-2000
Requires LED test light. Turn ignition to the "ON" position. Connect test light between terminal 7 of the diagnostic connector and ground. After beingconnected for three seconds, five green LEDs will light up. Turn ignition off.

X5 2000-onwards
Turn ignition off. Press and hold button to left of speedometer. Turn ignition to the "I" position. After 5 seconds, "OIL SERVICE" or "INSPECTION"
will display. Release button. Press and hold button again. After 5 seconds, "RESET" will flash. Release button. Press button once more. Newinterval is displayed. Press and hold button again. After 5 seconds, the time-based interval is displayed. Release button. Press and hold button

Z3 1996-2002

Z4 2003-onwards
Press and hold left hand button between gauges. Turn ignition switch to the "ON" position. Keep holding button until "OIL SERVICE" or
"INSPECTION" is displayed. Release button. Press and hold button again until "RESET?" is displayed. Press and hold button again for at least 3seconds. Turn ignition off.

Z8 2000-2003
Requires LED test light. Turn ignition to the "ON" position. Connect test light between terminal 7 of the diagnostic connector and ground. After beingconnected for three seconds, five green LEDs will light up. Turn ignition off.
